About Me
I am Jolinda - the founder of Pollock Biotech. I am a farmer born and bred - growing up (and learning a lot!) on a successful poultry farm, owned by my family for generations.

Growing up on a farm generated a passion for understanding how things work, and I became fascinated by animal and crop diseases - and went to The University of Edinburgh to get my degree in Infectious Diseases. Eager to learn more, I carried out my PhD on enteric diseases in pigs, and alternative management strategies for improving disease outcomes and animal performance.

I have had various roles as a microbiologist over the last 18 years, working in disease diagnostics, research and education. One particular highlight for me was a move into commercial work, helping a large biotechnology company build quality control methods and an in-house laboratory for their microbial inoculant product. Hearing some testimonials from their clients was fascinating, with many traditional methods failing them. As a microbiologist, I am driven by how we could utilise microbial communities naturally to enhance agricultural systems.

At the heart of all of my work lies a commitment to integrity and rigorous scientific understanding, whether at the desk or out in the field.
